Variegated Kalanchoe Plant

Key Features of the Variegated Kalanchoe:

1. Leaf Color & Patterns:   

• The leaves are primarily green with variegated patterns in shades of yellow, white, cream, or pink, typically around the edges or in the center.

• These variegated patterns develop based on sunlight exposure, enhancing the beauty of the plant.

2. Growth Habit:

• The plant grows in a compact, bushy form, making it ideal for both indoor and outdoor spaces. 

• It typically grows between 6 to 12 inches (15 to 30 cm) in height.

3. Care Requirements:

• Sunlight: It thrives in bright, direct sunlight, although some light afternoon shade can help prevent leaf burn. 

• Watering: Like other succulents, it doesn't require frequent watering. It’s important to allow the soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot. 

• Soil:  50:50 ratio of coco peat to garden soil works well. This mixture provides a balance between good moisture retention (from the coco peat) and essential nutrients and structure (from the garden soil)

What is coco peat:(also called coir peat) is a natural fiber extracted from coconut husks. It is commonly used as a soil amendment because it improves the soil structure, retains moisture, and enhances aeration. Coco peat is lightweight, renewable, and eco-friendly.

• Temperature: It prefers warm temperatures and should be protected from frost, as it is sensitive to cold weather.

4. Propagation:

• Variegated Kalanchoe can be propagated through leaf cuttings, stem cuttings, or offsets.

• Leaf cuttings can be placed in soil to root easily.
